Athletic Department NewsBULLDOG ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT FALL 2010 NEWSLETTER Fall Athletics: Brighton High School student athletes and coaches have been working hard all summer in preparation for the 2010-2011 Athletic Season. They have been involved in team camps, summer competitive leagues and individual camps. Official practices began on Monday August 16th for all Fall Sports, except Boy’s Golf which began on Monday August 9th. Currently Bulldog student-athletes are preparing for competition in the following sports (Varsity Coaches Listed):
ü Cheer- Edward Encinias ü Dance- Kelsi Dowd
Important Contest Dates:
Winter Athletics: Practices begin Tuesday November 12th for Winter Sports and will generally run from 02:45-05:30pm. Your student-athlete will receive an official schedule after tryouts and practice schedules will also be posted on the BHS Athletic Website under the specific sport. Varsity coach information for this winter is listed below:
TEN GUARANTEES ALL COACHES OWE EVERY HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETE (CHSSA) 1. Some individual time. 2. Encouragement – regardless of the athlete’s level of ability. 3. A reasonable opportunity to compete. 4. TOP NOTCH ROLE MODELING – from grooming and dress to behavior and ethics in general. 5. The absence of foul language. 6. Assistance and guidance with personal problems that arise in every young person’s life. 7. A well-structured athletic environment, from practices to actual competition days. 8. Recognition for the contributions each athlete has made to the team. 9. DISCIPLINE! FAIR, FIRM, AND CONSISTENT. 10. The right to have a high school career not consumed by the “year round” single sport mentality. It is very important to me and our coaches that we run a program that is the very best and puts our students first. The Colorado High School Activities Association promotes participating in high school sports with CLASS. Commitment, Loyalty, Academic, Sportsmanship. With that in mind, I encourage communication and feedback on any issue regarding our Bulldog Athletic Program. In closing, I want to say thank you to everyone that works hard to ensure that positive things happen for our students. I also want to thank our parents and community for the support that has been shown for our student-athletes, coaches, and programs. It is so important to those athletes when they look up into the stands and see friends, family, staff and community supporting them. Keep up the great support!
